Ripple CEO Faces Backlash Over Senator Lummis Comments

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is under fire from the crypto community after claiming Senator Cynthia Lummis canceled a meeting with him and refused to reschedule. Garlinghouse made a public plea to Lummis on X, inviting her to be a leader for all of crypto.

Bitcoin advocates slammed Garlinghouse, accusing him of ruining his reputation by supporting CBDCs and opposing Bitcoin. They called XRP a "pre-mined central bank token" and questioned Ripple's legitimacy.

The criticism highlights tensions between Bitcoin supporters and Ripple, which has faced accusations of centralization and an SEC lawsuit. Some view Garlinghouse's call-out of Lummis as a faux pas that separates him from the decentralized crypto ethos.

Garlinghouse now faces the challenge of rebuilding trust in the crypto spotlight. Ripple's initiatives aim to strengthen its position in cross-border payments, but reputational damage may slow adoption among Bitcoin advocates.

The crypto community awaits Garlinghouse's next moves as he navigates these challenges. Senator Lummis has not yet responded to his post.
