Metaplanet Launches U.S. and Japan Subsidiaries to Expand Bitcoin Treasury Strategy

Metaplanet, a Japanese hospitality company that has transitioned into a Bitcoin treasury firm, is expanding its cryptocurrency operations.

They announced their two new subsidiaries in the United States and Japan. Metaplanet Income Corp., based in Miami and funded with $15M, will focus on Bitcoin income generation and derivatives trading. This will separate it from Metaplanet's main BTC holdings.

Bitcoin Japan Inc., headquartered in Tokyo's Roppongi Hills, will oversee media, events, the Bitcoin.jp domain, Bitcoin Magazine Japan, and the Bitcoin Japan Conference. This increases Metaplanet's presence in the domestic cryptocurrency media and community area. Metaplanet, with more than 20,000 BTC, is the world's sixth-largest Bitcoin treasury. The corporation is continuing its aggressive campaign to increase Bitcoin holdings. They recently announced plans to raise $1.4B through an international share offering to add to its treasury.

The goal is to expand Metaplanet's global operations and grow its Bitcoin income business, which launched in late 2024. Ideally, they also want to grow institutional participation in crypto markets.
