The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has announced Digital Markets Infrastructure (DMI). DMI is the first blockchain-based platform for private funds from a major global stock exchange.
DMI was developed in collaboration with Microsoft and runs on Microsoft Azure. It supports the entire lifetime of digital assets, from issuance and tokenization to post-trade settlement. LSEG created the platform to provide seamless integration of blockchain technology with existing financial processes. Its mission is to be the first worldwide exchange organization to service clients throughout the entire funding spectrum.
Private funds are the initial asset class handled by DMI, with ambitions to extend to include other asset classes. The platform makes private funds discoverable through LSEG's Workspace. This feature will make communication between general partners and professional investors easier.
The first clients onboarded were MembersCap, a capital management firm, and Archax, an FCA-regulated cryptocurrency exchange. MembersCap conducted the platform's initial transaction, with Archax serving as a nominee for the Cardano Foundation.
This effort intends to improve investor access and liquidity in private markets, marking a significant step forward in the integration of traditional finance and blockchain innovation.
