Unless you’ve been asleep behind a crypto rock, you probably know about Ethereum which has been on fire lately. Milestone after milestone— everyone is trying to get their hands on it. But there’s someone who already has beat you to the punch and holds tons of it.
His name is Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s founder.
When ETH hit 2,900, 27-year-old Vitalik Buterin became the world’s youngest crypto billionaire. And not only that, but he is now also the third youngest self-made billionaire in history.
Vitalik Buterin Unmasked
Vitalik seems like a pretty normal guy. He was born in Russia but his family moved to Canada when he was 6 years old. He spent much of his teenage years playing World Of Warcraft.
After a bad experience, he became obsessed with solving problems associated with centralized servers. In 2011, he discovered Bitcoin and as a sort of side job, he started writing articles about it for Bitcoin Magazine.
He was an exceptional kid. That’s why in 2014, he received the prestigious Thiel scholarship for $100.000. A year later, Buterin and his partners decided to launch their very first cryptocurrency, Ethereum. Ever since then, the cryptocurrency has been growing and it has never stopped.
Right now, ETH has a market cap of +400B dollars. Many experts believe that these big changes are a sign that people are becoming more comfortable with investing in cryptocurrencies. This coupled with the phenomenon of DeFi and non-fungible tokens are major fuel for ETH price increases. Yet, others claim that all of this is a product of stimulus-driven mania.
The History of a 1B Wallet
So how did all of this occur? During the first Monday of May Ethereum reached what seemed to be its biggest achievement so far — the $3,000 level for the first time. Later that same week it reached $3,500 to the joy of every single Ethereum hodler. But the happiest of all no doubt was Vitalik.
There is no denying that this milestone was a huge landmark for many in the crypto space. Yet Vitalik appears to have other priorities. For example, he recently donated about 100 ETH to COVID-19 aid in India – showing a bit more of his philanthropic side of crypto.
At the end of the day, Ethereum keeps thriving. With ETH rising every day, Vitalik became a bigger and bigger figure in the public eye. So while volatility is a problem for some, it appears that ETH won’t stop growing anytime soon. Congrats to Vitalik and every ETH hodler out there!
