For one week in August 2022, Toronto will become the center of the cryptocurrency world as two major conferences take over Canada’s media center.

The city will welcome the Ethereum hackathon ETHToronto starting Monday, August 8, 2022, followed by the Blockchain Futurist Conference on August 9 and 10, 2022.

Cryptocurrency conferences places Toronto on global development map

Despite fears of a “Crypto Winter” taking hold of the industry, “Keep building” remains the rally cry of those faithful to the future of digital currencies. Toronto’s cryptocurrency week will focus on building sustainable technology across blockchains, with the goal of driving the industry forward.

The festivities begin on the evening of Aug. 8, when the ETHToronto hackathon teams will meet for the first time. After opening remarks, teams will be introduced to their bounties and resources before the Hacker Dome closes at 10 p.m.

The ETHToronto hackathon will officially begin on Aug. 9, giving teams 24 hours to work on their projects before judging on Wednesday. For those not on a hackathon team, there will be plenty of talks and workshops to attend. Some of the speakers and their topics include:

  • Ed Marquez, Hedera: Bring Ethereum Tools to New Ecosystems and Work with Scalable Smart Contracts
  • Cristian Lupascu, OMNIA Protocol: Bounty Workshop: Web3 Threats and How to Stop Them
  • Mentorship opportunities
  • Panel Presentations

The final projects will go before the judges’ panel on Wednesday, where they will go through three juried rounds before a winner is announced.

Wednesday, August 9 is also the beginning of Blockchain Futurist Conference: Canada’s largest cryptocurrency and blockchain event.
